THE BLOOD COVENANT-4 “Coming To Terms”
Remaking man into a New Creation in order to restore our relationship with Him, is the purpose of The Blood Covenant (TBC). It binds 2 parties together in a permanent relationship making them into One New Creation!
The strength of the Greater party transforms and lifts the condition of the weaker party.
In the TERMS of TBC…
- Your debt of sin is paid off by the wealth of His grace.
- The deadness of your nature is replaced with a New Birth as GOD’s Child.
- His righteousness overshadows your corruption.
- The healing of His wounds delivers you from disease.
Ezek. 16:62 I will establish my covenant with YOU, and then YOU will KNOW that I am the LORD
GOD relates with you on The Terms of TBC.
The Terms is how He introduced Himself to Abraham…
Gen. 15:1 After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram! I am your shield and the one who will reward you in great abundance.”
Gen. 17:1-7 When Abram was ninety-nine years old the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless, that I may make my covenant between me and you, and may multiply you greatly.” Then Abram fell on his face. And God said to him,“Behold, my covenant is with you, and you shall be the father of a multitude of nations. No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham, for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make you into nations, and kings shall come from you. And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you.
GOD got Abraham to COME TO TERMS (C2T) with a Blood Covenant that had requirements far above his ability to fulfill. And He was able to do it by presenting The Terms as Promises rather than demands or threats, inspiring Abraham to BELIEVE that GOD would work it out.
Jesus is how GOD worked it out!
Receiving Jesus is how you C2T with GOD, and inherit TBC.
Rom. 4:18 Against hope Abraham BELIEVED in hope with the result that he BECAME the father of many nations according to the pronouncement…
We C2T with GOD Through Faith in TBC...
Believing is Seeing! If you believe the Promise when GOD speaks it you’ll receive it when you see it. BUT, if you won’t See It when it’s a Promise you won’t Receive It when it’s a manifestation (i.e. the Pharisees).
Mt. Moriah was all about getting Abraham to C2T with TBC...
Heb. 11:17 It was by faith that Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice when God was testing him. Abraham, who had received God’s promises, was ready to sacrifice his only son, Isaac,
Heb. 11:18 even though God had told him, “Isaac is the son through whom your descendants will be counted.”
Heb. 11:19 Abraham reasoned that if Isaac died, God was able to bring him back to life again. And in a sense, Abraham did receive his son back from the dead.
It wasn’t Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son, as much as it was his FAITH that GOD would resurrect him to life!
Abraham’ C2T with GOD through FAITH opened the door for GOD to send Jesus as the Fulfillment of the TERMS, satisfying BOTH sides: Our debt and GOD’s promises.
Jesus is GOD offering you the ability to C2T with Him.
Coming to Terms with Life is basically Settling for Conditions that impact you: Stress, Lack, Sadness, Strife, Illness, Death.
BUT the sad inescapable fact is that C2T with Life doesn’t solve anything. It offers precious few happy options and no ultimate victory. It’s really just succumbing to Consequences.
But through TBC GOD is offering us the awesome privilege of C2T with HIM, instead of Settling for the Consequences of life.
Mark 10:46-52 They came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus the son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the road. When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Many scolded him to get him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called the blind man and said to him, “Have courage! Get up! He is calling you.” He threw off his cloak, jumped up, and came to Jesus. Then Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man replied, “Rabbi, let me see AGAIN.” Jesus said to him, “Go, your FAITH has healed you.” Immediately he regained his sight and followed him on the road.
“Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” — Bartimaeus was referring to Jesus as the Promised Messiah of TBC. He was invoking the covenant by faith.
Jesus stopped — To be sure, there were likely many calling out to Jesus. But it was exercising faith in TBC that stopped Him and got Him to call for Bartimaeus to come.
“What do you want me to do for you?” — An amazing offer such as this could only be extended because Bartimaeus was dealing with Jesus on the Terms of TBC
“Rabbi, let me see AGAIN.” — Bartimaeus wasn't born blind. He had his sight, lost it and wanted it back. His C2T with the sad fact of life that he was blind, was suddenly disrupted by the hope of C2T with GOD through TBC, when he heard Jesus was there.
“Go, your FAITH has healed you.” — Your faith in TBC. Many people have faith in GOD and in His word, but it's a passive believe'ism. But C2T with a revelation of TBC puts your faith into action and causes you to connect with GOD as did Bartimaeus.
So bring everything to Jesus and Settle it in TBC!
